Fresno Pacific University and Biblical Seminary faculty, staff and students have written Advent devotionals for you to use and enjoy this Christmas season. It is our hope that you will be inspired in your relationship with God through the celebration of Jesus’ coming to earth at Christmas and the anticipation of his coming again.

There are two formats of the devotional available at http://www.fresno.edu/adventdevotions. If you wish to print the devotional and can do so two-sided, the booklet version will save paper and look nicer.

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope.” –Psalm 130:5

Warm greetings in the name of Jesus, the word of God in the flesh! There are endless reasons today why we might feel discouraged and afraid—sickness, unemployment, violence, broken relationships, shattered dreams—you name it. None of us are exempt from the sometimes overwhelming concerns of the world. Yet the resounding truth of Scripture is this: In Jesus Christ, we have hope, hope that no one and nothing can take away!

As we move into and through the upcoming seasons of Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, we at Fresno Pacific University and its seminary want first to thank all of you who have participated so generously and prayerfully in the Kingdom work that we share. Please accept this devotional booklet as one expression of our gratitude for your support.

Beyond that, we want to invite you to join us in celebrating the hope that Jesus Christ offers to each and every one of us—and to the entire world! As administrators, faculty, students, alumni and friends of the seminary, we have written these devotionals to inspire you in your walk with the Lord. We understand that life is often difficult and seemingly unfair, but we believe that in Christ we are people with a bright and eternal future! We are, once again, people of hope.

As you read through and reflect on these short meditations, please keep all of us at Fresno Pacific in your prayers. Pray that we will be attentive to God’s Spirit, alert to new opportunities and faithful to our calling.
