Ending Student Loan Debt Slavery is our banner petition. Clearly, our long term economic downturn has left many students without the jobs that would have paid enough for them to pay back their student loans. While bankruptcy protection should be restored to students, this current petition simply seeks to allow everyone with governmentally guaranteed student loans to directly convert up to $40,000 of these loans to the new federal student loans that will be considered paid in full after 20 annual payments, such payments limited to 10% of each student’s income.

A Truer Democracy is about reconnecting our elected representatives with our demands, the demands of the voters who elect them. Ending Student Loan Debt Slavery clearly is one issue on which huge numbers of voters agree. So, here is a chance to change the rules of this game.
