ADREAS is an acronym for “Adverse Drug Reaction Early Alert System.” The primary function of this app is to allow the subscriber to manage prescriptions, potential interactions and adverse reactions for up to 4 profiles (people). There is no limit to the number of prescriptions that can be monitored by the app.When a new “profile” is created key information including contact information for the primary care physician and an emergency contact can be entered. This contact information includes phone number, email and in the care of the physician, fax number. This information is different for each profile.Once a profile is entered (partial completion is ok), prescriptions are entered. The drug name is checked against the backend database that is constantly being updated with additional drugs. If the drug is not found in the database, the app will post a request to have the drug entered. A trained analyst will review the drug and build the correct information about the drug. If the drug cannot be found an email notification is sent to the user to double check the spelling of the drug name and resubmit.Once the prescription passes the entry process, it is also checked against the prescriptions already on the profile. If there is a warning about the interaction of this new prescription and a previously entered prescription, a notification is displayed advising the user of the potential contraindication found and advising to seek medical advice immediately.Part of the prescription entry process requires the user to enter the dosage and frequency information. This information is for transmission to caregivers, but also to allow for scheduling notifications of the user that it is time to take the medication. The prescription goes on the app’s calendar and can be viewed by the user or the user may choose to receive an email. The user can also enter observations about the profile and the app will store this information. A good example of the use of this is to print out all the observations to bring to the doctor for discussion on the next visit. Another use is to provide the observations to an emergency facility should the person associated with the profile is admitted for emergency care. The list of current medications is also available. Emergency contacts, prescriptions and observations are available in offline mode.Some other features of the application include the ability to look up a drug and to see if the app has any posted warning about taking that drug in combination with current prescriptions without entering it as a prescription.The user can download this app and use for one year (for up to 4 people being monitored) and the user can renew the subscription annually.
