The Interpret ‘Ma! app is an initiative of the Aboriginal Interpreter Service of the Northern Territory, Australia. This app has been developed to support, professionally develop and record Aboriginal language interpretations specific to specialised contexts where Aboriginal interpreters may be engaged; including Health, Legal, Government and General Phrases relevant to the profession.

The Aboriginal Interpreter Service ‘Interpret’app is a pilot program to trial the collection of Aboriginal language interpretations by AIS interpreters using mobile technology. This is the first phase of a two phase trial. Findings from the first phase of the project will inform the second phase of development including a central online database for sharing and curating content created by interpreters. This will effectively turn the app into a living resource and reference for commonly used AIS phrases and their interpretations in a range of Aboriginal languages.
