Ever wondered how the Artificial Intelligence (AI) works in Noughts and Crosses? AiTicTacToe provides a novel way of understanding the Artificial Intelligence behind Tic Tac Toe - or Noughts and Crosses, by exposing the underlying machinery. Players can choose what rules the AI should use, and switch these on and off, to understand how they work. They can then be reordered to find the optimal strategy for playing Tic Tac Toe.The AIM OF THE GAME is to put the rules in the right order (from the top of the list to the bottom), to allow the AI player to play the best game possible!* You take it in turns with the AI player to make moves on the board.* The AI player's moves are determined by the rules. Move important rules to the top of the list, and least important rules to the bottom of the list.* Make rules active, by sliding the switch "on", otherwise they will be ignored.* When the rule is fired, a green light will appear by that rule (only one rule can fire per move).* After each move, you will be told how many of your active rules are in the correct order.* Some of the rules are "bogus" - if they are included in the strategy, they will break the strategy. Identify these and deactivate them.The application was developed at the University of Liverpool to teach how Artificial Intelligence (and in particular, Combinatorial Game Theory) can be used to play tic-tac-toe. In this particular version, heuristic rules are used to determine an Artificial Intelligence strategy instead of searching through the space of 26,830 possible games!!!
