Before radio became common (and even afterward when secrecy was important) ships communicated using morse code by flashing signal lamps at each other. These signal lamps were spotlights covered with shutters, the shutters were open and closed to modulate the light. The other ship would observe the light using binoculars. A portable version of the signal lamp was called an Aldis Lamp.Similarly this app works in two modes: Signal Lamp to send and Binocular to receive. In the Signal Lamp mode typing on the keyboard will prepare text to send. Pressing send will then send the text. If a camera flash is available then this will be used to send. Otherwise the whole screen will flash to send the message. In the Binocular mode the bottom of the screen shows the view from the camera. Line up the sending device as near as possible to the cross hairs. Decode text is shown on the top of the screen.• Just think of the money you will save from your texting plan! (assuming your friends are in your line of sight)• See how far you can send and receive messages. • If your in the navy, practice your signaling.• Watching an old war movie and wondering what they are saying, this app will tell you.• Please add a remark to your review if you find other uses for this app.• Free for now, but a future version may cost $.99. So download it now and tell your friends to do so as well.
