Sometimes it would be useful to be able to email a customer, a colleague, a friend or a family member and include an electronic reminder of an appointment or meeting. Unfortunately, generating a reminder for forwarding by email with some electronic calendar systems is less easy than it sounds. And what’s more, when you’ve managed to generate a reminder, you’re not sure that it will be compatible with the recipient’s electronic calendar system.Appointment Assistant was created with the aim of making it as easy as possible to generate an electronic reminder that can then be sent by email. Further, the reminder itself is in multiple formats, increasing the chance that the recipient will be able to add it to their own electronic calendar system with least effort. And of course, the less effort required means the more chance of the reminder being added, and the more chance of the reminder being added, the more chance that your recipient will turn up to that appointment or meeting.Appointment Assistant will generate an email according to your choices and include details of the appointment in three different formats:Plain text – for those recipients who don’t have an electronic calendar system, and to provide quick confirmation of the appointment details. Google Calendar – a web link that when selected will open a Google Calendar event webpage with your appointment details already completed.iCalendar – or .ics file - that can be used to add the appointment details as an event to compatible electronic calendar systems such as Apple Calendar or Microsoft Outlook.To reduce the effort required to send out standard appointment reminders, Appointment Assistant provides for saving common email / appointment combinations as templates for reuse.As well as being emailed an appointment event can be added to your own calendar.Events can be defined with either a start and end date/time, or with a start date/time combined with a duration.A reminder alarm can be associated with the event in the iCalendar file.Events are created using an absolute (UTC) date/time to reduce issues across time zones.
