The Warwick University Art Collection, which now numbers over 800 works, came into existence thanks to the vision of the University’s first architect Eugene Rosenberg. Rosenberg had a strong belief in the importance of public art and wished those who studied and worked here would have daily exposure to original works; moreover he persuaded Sir Alistair McAlpine, to donate paintings by some of the foremost artists of the day.The collection has continued to be an integral part of the university’s development from its foundation in 1965 and includes contemporary prints, sculpture, photography and ceramics as well as paintings.
