This app uses QR codes as a means to answer 15 solar system questions. It was designed by three of my students, Erin, Ben, and Aarush, to be used as a scavenger hunt. Some of the ideas were to post the codes around campus, and have teams, using a map, answer the questions and return. The instructor can keep time if you wish to create a competition. Other ideas included using a football field scale model of the solar system, or posting the planets along a biking or walking trail.

The goal was to get the class moving! You may also attach the codes to images, magazine covers, desktops, posters, display cases etc. The possibilities are endless. It's bare bones, and this is because we wanted the app to be useful over a larger variety of activities. A question, and image pops up, the student chooses the best answer, scans the code, and is given feedback. If the answer is correct, he, or she will move on to the next question. This app can be used by large groups, or by individual students. Scout groups, and astronomy clubs can easily create a fun, family friendly activity for all ages. For large groups, print out multiple codes for each planet, and post them in several locations so there are multiple paths to choose from. The End code can be centrally located, along with a time keeper if you choose.
