BabbleBox - Socially speaking!

BabbleBox is a voice-controlled app that enables you to stay in touch and be social, best case without lifting a finger, when you are on the go.

It supports making voice calls, sending text messages, updating your Facebook status, doing Facebook checkins and sending Twitter tweets.

All you need to do is to speak a voice command and associated information like phone number and a message, and BabbleBox will automatically perform the function you requested.

BabbleBox is very simple to use, as it will instantly recognize what you say and also allows you to manually control it by tapping the command buttons on its sleek and easy-to-use user interface.

Get Started

If you are going to use Facebook or Twitter, login to the services via Login to Facebook and/or Login to Twitter in the Menu.

Possibly change Settings to your liking, but we recommend that you start with the defaults.

The microphone turns blue when BabbleBox is listening. If it's not, press the microphone to start listening. Please note that it only listens while the microphone is blue.

You can create longer messages by stacking phrases. Just say another phrase after the previous one. Use Erase (via voice or button) to erase the last phrase if it was wrong.

You can also say "comma", "period", "full stop", "question mark", "exclamation mark" or "exclamation point" to get ",", ".", ".", "?", "!" and "!" respectively. You have to speak them continuously with the sentence, or else the sentence will be considered ended.

Commands

Call

Makes a phone call to the entered phone number.

Usage: call -> phone number -> BabbleBox calls the other party.

Text

Sends a text message to the entered phone number.

Usage: text -> phone number -> message -> BabbleBox sends the message to the other party.

Status

Performs a Facebook status update for the currently logged in Facebook user.

Usage: status -> message -> BabbleBox performs a Facebook status update.

Checkin

Performs a Facebook checkin for the currently logged in Facebook user.

BabbleBox automatically finds your nearest location based on your position, but also gives you the option to state a named place to checkin at (see Settings).

Usage: checkin -> possible named place -> optional message -> BabbleBox performs a Facebook checkin.

Performs a Twitter update (or tweet) for the currently logged in Twitter user.

Usage: tweet -> message -> BabbleBox posts your message to Twitter.

User Interface

If you prefer to use BabbleBox by touch instead of by voice, you can do this easily. The interface is essentially controlled by 3 icon buttons at the bottom.

Voice input can be activated by tapping the microphone button in the bottom right corner. It's also the main indicator for the state of the voice input. It turns blue when listening, and it turns red if an error occurs. Remove the error by pressing Cancel (home button).

You cancel any operation via Cancel (home button). BabbleBox then returns to waiting for a command.

There are also several Settings that you can access via the cogwheel button.
