There are many car problems that many of us encounter. The common ones are below. However Car Problems on Lemon Laws is an app that will talk about a law to help the owner to get rid of the car. We will also touch a bit on car problems.
And since you are here, here are tips you can take with you in case you have problems.
Most common car problems are shared by millions of drivers a day. The good thing is they are not serious ones, and actually give you warning to avoid serious problems in the future.
To determine the most common car problems, the American Automobile Association conducted nationwide clinics at 25 AAA clubs, inspecting 6,082 vehicles with small problems that were easy to fix with a little time and money. If you follow their lead, and do this small car fixes quickly, your car will last longer, saving you from breaking down or having an accident, according to John Nielsen, Director of Repair at AAA.
1. Incorrect Tire Pressure
Check your car's tire pressure at least once a month for under- or over-inflated tires. Low tire pressure can increase both tread wear and fuel consumption, costing you big bucks. High tire pressure can reduce traction. In addition, proper tire alignment will also increase tire life and improve gas mileage.
2. Insufficient Tire Tread Depth AKA "Bald Tires"
Your car's tires should have no less than a 3/32" tread depth for sufficient traction. You can use a depth gauge, or even a simple penny, to measure a tire's tread depth. To use a penny, put it in the tire's tread groove this way: Lincoln's face showing and his head upside down. If all of Lincoln's head is visible, replace the tire. Nowadays, many tires have built-in tread wear indicators to tell you when to replace them.
3. Low and Dirty Engine Oil
Oil and gas are the life blood of your car's engine. Dirty oil increases engine wear and a low oil level leads to overheating. If the oil level drops severely low, you can end up with severe engine damage. Regular oil changes may seem like something you can skip to save money...BUT...Doing so will end up costing you more in the end.
4. Worn Windshield Wipers
You should replace your windshield wiper blades once a year, or as soon as they start streaking. Stiff and cracked wiper blades reduce driving visibility in bad weather...when your chance of having a crash is already maximized.
5. Clogged Air Filter
Maintain and replace your car's air filters per your owner's manual instructions. This will ensure better air flow through your car's engine, improving the engine's efficiency and resulting increased power and gas mileage.
6. Check Engine Light On
NEVER ignore your car's check engine light. When it comes on and won't go off, it's because your vehicle's computer found a problem with it's emission system. You must perform a "diagnostic scan" to determine the exact cause. (NOTE: See my article on all the CAUSES OF A LIT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!) Luckily, this light does NOT always mean big problems with big bills to pay.
7. Engine Knock AKA a "Strange Noise"
One of the most common car complaints is the engine making a "strange noise" or knocking sound. An "engine knock" is usually caused by too much clearance between the components located in the valve train. A mechanic is best suited to diagnose and treat a car's persistent engine knock.
8. Squeaky Brakes
Car brakes that squeak can cause passengers and pedestrians alike to CRINGE. The squeaking, squealing sound could be caused by many different things: the vibration of the brake pads and the rotors, the brake pads and the calipers, the calipers and the mounts, the shoes and the drums or the shoes and backing plates. Unless you are a car maintenance DIY expert, squeaky brakes will require a trip to the mechanic .
