Worried about safety of your car? Have an old phone lying around without any rational use? Turn it into Car Theft Alarm! It's very simple, just install this application and follow the instructions below and you have your own free car theft alarm that you can control by SMS messages!

NOTE! If you don't have an extra Android phone you can leave into your car to act as car alarm, then this is not for you.

INSTRUCTIONS:

You can use the new control software, Car Theft Alarm Control, for commanding Car Theft Alarm. This way setting up everything and using the alarm software is easier and faster than earlier. Make sure you always have the newest versions of the applications installed, otherwise you may see some unexpected behavior.

But if you don't have two Android phones or you want for some other reason to use this car alarm software just by sending SMS messages by yourself, then follow the instructions below.

Terms:

Alarm device = The mobile where Car Theft Alarm runs on. This is the one you will leave into your car for monitoring movements.

Control device = The mobile you use for controlling the Car Theft Alarm. This is the one you use for sending SMS commands to Alarm device.

1. After installing and starting the application, send word 'REGISTER' to the Alarm device from the Control device. If registration succeeds, you can see your phone number at the bottom of the application saying that the number is now registered.

2. Now you are ready to use the Car Theft Alarm! See all the supported commands (sent using SMS from Control device) and explanations below:

REGISTER - Application registers the phone number that sent the SMS. There can be only one Control device at a time. After registration is done, it cannot be changed for safety reasons without uninstalling the application.

WHERE - Application responds with Google Maps link that shows the current location.

LOCK X - After this command the application alerts if the Alarm device is moved over X meters. Overrides LOOP command.

UNLOCK - Alert zone functionality is deactivated.

LOOP X - Application sends location alerts in interval of X minutes. Overrides LOCK command.

UNLOOP - Location alert loop is deactivated.

PWR_ALERT_ON - Application sends battery power alerts.

PWR_ALERT_OFF - Power alerts are not sent.

SHOCK_ON X - Application detects shocks and sends alerts. X means sensitivity of detection (0-10) and the best value depends on the phone model. Too high sensitivity for the device causes false alerts. For example with Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, you can use as high as level 9 sensitivity but S2 can handle only level 5.

SHOCK_OFF - Deactivates shock detection.

NOTE!

It is highly recommended that you don't keep the Alarm device connected to charger all the time. The battery won't like it. Instead, charge the device only when you need it or find some intelligent charger that charges only when it's OK to charge. In addition, please see the following tips to save power:

1. Turn off everything that is not needed.

2. Force the alarm device to use only 2G network. There is a big difference between 2G and 3G what comes to power consumption.

3. Deactivate vibration on the alarm device. Vibration may cause unwanted Shock detection alerts.
