This app allows you to view and search a collection of photos of the American Civil War, 1861 - 1865, at the Library of Congress and in the public domain. The images are from the original glass plate negatives made under the supervision of Mathew Brady and Alexander Gardner plus additional sources according to the Library of Congress.

Tap a photo thumbnail to see a larger image accompanied by a description. You may zoom the image using the usual finger gestures. To download the photo to your Pictures folder, simply use the appbar download menu item. You may also share a the link to an image via email.

There is also a slide show, where you may progress through the images.
