The purpose of CodeIT is to contribute to the learning of basic programming concepts and languages, especially to freshmen college students, who will be the target users of this application. With the interactive tutorial it provides, students will gain basic knowledge about programming through their handheld devices.

The application gives set of modules for the students to choose from. Within those modules, the system gives information about the lesson, like basic programming concepts, logic and algorithm facts, as well as the language and vocabulary of programming.

A randomized set of questions with instructions will be provided per module, and the students must answer these for practice, providing have an interactive experience. The response of the interactive tutorial will depend on how the student interacts with it. An assessment after each lecture will also be given to determine if the student is ready to proceed to the next module. In developing the mobile application, Java will be used by the developers to create the application and the available resources needed to develop the application for the Android Operating System.

The developers are hoping that many freshmen students will benefit from CodeIT upon the deployment of the application.
