COMBAR – a tool to reduce student dropout

Prior to the COMBAR project, only few had been focusing on the learners barriers in vocational training. With COMBAR, investigations showed that the majority of learners dropping out did so in traineeship.

With this in mind, a teaching intervention has been made by constructing the COMBAR Teaching Concept (CTC). The CTC is based on three pillars:

• The network surrounding the learner

• The joint assignment

• The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

This secure the relationship, support and communication between teacher, learner and place of training.

COMBAR is a tool that can help VET educators:

• to empower teachers, counselors, traineeship responsibles and the learners’ general network

• to overcome barriers of communication

• to improve the learning process

• to increase the number of learners graduating

The consortium behind COMBAR are Niuernermik Ilinniarfik (GL), Oqaatsinik Pikkorissarfik (GL), itai a/s (DK), Bucks New University (UK), and Human Reform Alapitvany (RO). All with extended knowledge of and experiences in dealing with the challenges of VET and e-learning.
