About Consept

Matty “Consept” Kitching got into rapping when he felt that no-one was listening to him whilst significant things were happening in his life. The only way he could seem to connect with people was through the power of his own music and lyrics. Eminem was a major influence on him and having been a huge fan as a child, he still loved how the lyrics seemed to connect to life’s situations.

Starting to write songs in year 10 at school, he felt people saw him as a joke rather than a musician. Having also been bullied throughout school, Consept became even more determined to forge ahead with his music to create an identity and be heard! The death of his uncle then hit him very hard and his way of coping was to write songs to connect with people in similar situations.

More recent inspirations are Professor Green, whose lyrics he really seems to connect with, especially “Read All About It” and Devlin, whose lyrics he feels are so precise and detailed you can almost feel what he is saying. These two incredibly talented lyricists’ words ‘speak’ to him and he hopes one day to do the same for others.
