Dances for an iPhone Volume 2, created, choreographed, videographed and produced by Richard Daniels, presents an innovative way to look at and disseminate dance on camera. Mr. Daniels charts new territory in bringing modern dance to a wider audience by creating an application for the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch. This App allows the viewer to interactively choose from a collection of short dance movies by Richard Daniels. Shot in available light and in practice clothes, these movies provide an intimate dance experience.
Dances for an iPhone Volume 2 features six accomplished dancers in six dance movies and provides access to biographical material about each dancer: Molissa Fenley dances the same dance to two different tracks "Feet of Klee" and "Magic Love Lost Here" -- the former to "Altonlied" composed by Gerald Busby, and the latter to Random Coin Words created by Richard Daniels and spoken by Valeria Vasilevski; Margie Gillis dances in "Never Was..." to a Handel aria sung by Andreas Scholl; Miki Orihara and Stephen Pier duet in "A Dance about a House," with a score by Arvo Part; Risa Steinberg dances "Dido's Lament" to a score by Henry Purcell and sung by Susan Graham; and Christine Wright previews one section of coming Volume 3, a suite to the Preludes of Alexander Scriabin.
