DESCRIPTIONThe Bohr model of the atom describes how the chemical properties of an element are related to the arrangement of its electrons in shells around a central nucleus. An understanding of this model is required knowledge in most High School Science courses.The Periodic Table of the Elements is a representation of the elements that groups them into columns with similar chemical characteristics.This application brings together these two fundamental scientific models in a simple visual experience that you can interact with to explore how atomic structure is related to the chemistry of the elements.HOW IT WORKSThe application displays a selected element floating above its position in the Periodic Table. The elements are color coded according to their categories. Alongside the table is a diagram showing the electron shells for the selected element. Use the 'elements' button to display an alphabetical list of the names of the elements.You can select a new element by tapping on its cell in the Periodic Table. Press and drag the selector to scan across a Period or up and down within a Group. Use the slider to scan through the elements in atomic number order.
