You can't add a notification to an existing event without turning that event into just a notification. For example, if you want to add an event that is 1 minute long, then have a dialog pop up that says "Change" then have another 1 minute event, then a final dialog that says "Done", that will be 4 items in the timeline. A timed item, a notification item, another timed item, and another notification item.
