FracturED: A Fracture in the ED Module 1: Hand and Wrist is designed to provide case-based instruction on hand and wrist cases encountered in the emergency department. There is an associated test-question bank that has been developed, however due to the early stage of the company there are only a limited number of initial trial IDs associated with it, if you are interested please email emedapps@gmail.com. While we offered an initial 1000 free copies of the app those are now done, but we are still offering it at a highly discounted price with some free usernames still available as part of our start-up quiz software. This is the first module (Hand & Wrist) which will be finished with splint and block information, however will continue to be updated. The next module (Upper extremity) will be released by end of year 2012. Other updates will tentatively include the linking of the quizzes and the app, as well as introduction of CME capability. The application is one to use to learn skills related to the emergent-based diagnosis and care of orthopedic injuries. There are online tests associated with the application in order for a learner or instructor to gauge pre/post knowledge base, identify weakness, and measure competence. Some of the goals behind the app include: learning interpretation of plain films, appropriate care of orthopedic injuries, diagnosis and care of associated injuries, teaching management strategies, and uniform means of assessment through the online testing.
