GPS Sitter aims to aid android devices to keep the GPS functioning at its best.
After being an android user for years and doing development on GPS enabled android devices I became painfully aware of the degradation of GPS quality that can occur over time and of a few actions that can solve or at least reduce the severity of the issue. Before running this app my old droid X would frequently reach a state where it couldn't get a lock no matter how long I let it try even completely out in the open, with the app running it was back to getting 12m accuracy locks reasonably quickly. It only does anything while your phone is charging, so it should have a minimal impact on battery life.
I've had a few friends ask for a copy of the app over the past few months, unfortunately it's currently in an unfinished state in that it is very lacking on the user facing features and styling. I'm currently swamped with paying projects at the moment, so I'm releasing this as-is instead of delaying forever and being the only one benefiting from the GPS sitter. When life slows down a bit, expect more configuration options and status/history bells and whistles.
It has been tested reasonably well on droid X and droid Bionic and nothing else. If you try the app out and have any feature requests or issues, please feel free to contact me and I'll try to carve out some time.
For best results, when you charge your phone, place your device somewhere with enough line of site to the sky to get a gps signal.
