You can even turn off the Fed or go on the gold standard. You will see - and hear - how the economy is doing based on your actions. The model used to generate data in Active mode is based on thousands of observations of dozens of datasets to produce realistic economic behavior. After playing you receive a grade and evaluation based on how well you handled the economy. If you do very well you may get a big bonus, but if your economy collapses you'll get a large penalty.
