The HITRUST ID app is an all purpose one-time password generator that provides an extra layer of security when a user accesses online accounts. With HITRUST ID, your mobile phone is used to generate a password that can be used to verify online authentication. HITRUST ID also supports HOTP standards for generating one-time-passwords to use when authenticating to Web portals and VPNs.

Once provisioned, the HITRUST ID app will securely store a user specific key, protected by the PIN known only to the user. Each time you want to authenticate yourself, you will launch the app and enter your PIN when prompted. The app will display a password. Enter the password on the website or VPN prompt and you will be authenticated. The app provides two-factor authentication – something you have (the mobile device) and something you know (the PIN) – to ensure that your logins are better protected.
