This hanumanchalisa was written by Goswami Tulsidas in the sixteenth century. Tulsidas wrote these forty verses in the praise of Lord Hanuman. Forty in Hindi is called 'chaalees' and the hanumanchalisa containing forty verses is called 'chaaleesa'.It is extremely popular among Hindus.
