IBM Mobile Systems Remote (IBM Remote) is an iPhone/iPad application that lets you monitor and manage multiple IBM BladeCenters along with their installed blades and components, System x rack mounted systems, or zEnterprise ensembles and CPCs.Machines can be added to a list kept on the mobile device simply by specifying the hostname of the management module along with the user credentials (userid and password). Once this information is entered, the app will connect to those systems and provide an intuitive, drill-down user interface used to monitor their health and configuration. The app can also be used to perform some management functions such as:Powering systems on/offClearing the event logsChanging ownership of the KVM or Media TrayToggling the system locator lightsMobile security is a primary concern with business applications. All machine credentials are kept securely in the native keychain. The app also requires the user to specify an application password (also kept in the keychain) on startup. This password is used to avoid unintended access to your machines and as a confirmation step for any significant action that will alter your machines. If the application password is entered incorrectly 5 consecutive times, the machine listing will be removed and the user will be prompted to reenter a new application password along with the machine list.This app was developed by IBM Research as an exploration vehicle for using mobile devices to manage IBM servers.
