This app calculates basal bolus insulin doses and generates an easy to read patient instruction sheet that can printed, e-mailed or saved as a PDF. This is intended for use by health care professionals only

The Lantus dose is calculated as 0.3 units/kg and the prandial dose of insulin (Apidra, Humalog or Novolog) is calculated as 0.1 units/kg. The correctional scale is weight based using the 1700 rule commonly used with pump patients which determines the average decrease in blood glucose expected by 1 unit of insulin.

This app is indicated for use in patients with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes 16 years and older weighing > 96 lbs (44kg).

This app CANNOT be used in patients with serum Cr > 1.5 mg/dl (as they may have lower insulin requirements)
