JDPhotoPDX HD allows you to use high resolution photographs taken by Portland, Oregon photographer Jarred Decker as wallpapers on your iPad and iPad mini devices.The app features 25 photographs selected by Jarred. Each month, 5 photos are pulled down and replaced. Once saved to your camera roll the photos are yours to keep. Opening the app takes you to the home screen, where you can scroll through the currently featured photos. Clicking on a photo brings up the full size image, and shows the info, save, and share buttons. The save button allows photos to be saved to your Camera Roll, where they can be applied to your device as a wallpaper. The app features the "eye", or info screen, which shows the metadata such as aperture, and shutter speed used, as well as camera type and lens. It also features a share button, which allows users to share a photo through their Facebook, Twitter, or email account. The HD version of the iPad is designed for primary viewing in the landscape orientation. When you save a photo, you will notice in the Camera Roll that it has black bars above and below the image. This was done to allow the user optimal viewing area when setting the photo as a wallpaper. Since photos are typically zoomed in on the device, this gives some extra space when setting the photo as the user likes it.Please keep in mind that the photos are high resolution, so they may take a moment to load. There is also a sister app, JDPhotoPDX specially designed for the iPhone and iPod touch. It features many of the same photos, but also has some of its own.
