Jazz Saxophone Etudes, Volume 1 features twelve melodic etudes for the advancing jazz saxophonist. These etudes feature a wide variety of tempos, ranging from a ballad (66 BPM) through medium swing tempos (126 - 168 BPM), all the way up to fast bebop tempos ( from 184 BPM through 264 BPM). Each etude demonstrates a melodic approach to soloing with authentic jazz vocabulary. The etudes are catchy, fun to play, and written idiomatically for the saxophone.The etudes are based on familiar chord progressions, including the blues, rhythm changes, and a variety of common “standard” 32-bar songs.Custom User InterfaceA customized user interface makes this app both fun and easy to use. When you launch the application, you’ll see a home screen divided into two halves. The upper half of the home screen features the full digital version of print edition book, including full detailed instructions for use of the app, plus practice suggestions (specific instructions for beginning, intermediate and advanced players), as well as detailed theoretical and style analysis of some of the compositional devices used in the etudes.The lower half of the home screen provides instant access to each of the twelve etudes, including the play-along tracks featuring the demonstration saxophone tracks (performed by the author), as well as the rhythm-section-only tracks. All page turns are automatic and synchronized with the music for easy, hands-free operation. To start playing a sax demo track, simply click on the saxophone icon on the lower left side of the display, and the track will immediately begin to play.To start playing a rhythm-section-only track, simply click on the drum icon on the lower right side of the display, and the track will immediately begin to play. The rhythm section track also features extra blowing choruses.
