Daily checklists are REQUIRED by OSHA and ANSI. If you are running equipment and NOT completing daily checklists---you are NOT in compliance. So why not make it easy on your operators and on management? KEYCHECK creates an electronic inspection and customized checklist (in any Latin language) for any forklift, construction equipment, cranes, trucks or any equipment in your fleet.
You create customized checklists for every vehicle in your fleet—in the same app! The driver logs in with his name and password. He then chooses his shift and the vehicle the checklist is to be completed on. This means one operator (or mechanic) can do checklists on multiple vehicles from the same smartphone or tablet. This approach helps to ensure that operators are not skipping parts or items of the inspection process---the operator is accountable for an accurate checklist completion.
Each checklist items comes with PASS or FAIL and every item can have typed comments from the operator on that item. A supervisor or mechanic is notified via email IMMEDIATELY for every FAILED item. Additional comments by the operator on each item helps the mechanic preemptively schedule maintenance----instead of waiting for a major repair.
The completed checklist is then wirelessly transmitted (via cellular or WiFi connection) to a DROPBOX account where the CSV data can be disseminated into an Excel report for easy viewing by management.
What does OSHA require regarding forklift checklists?
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that all forklift operator training programs include instruction explaining how operators are to “examine” forklift trucks before placing them in operation. Standard 1910.178 reads:
At the beginning of each shift, all vehicles that will be used must be inspected to assure that they are in safe operating condition and free of apparent damage that could lead to an accident. All defects must be corrected before the vehicle is placed in service.
Despite this requirement, A very high percentage of forklift users are not aware that they are violating an OSHA mandate if they fail to perform these inspections.
In the event of an accident, the OSHA inspector will---FOR SURE---ask you to see your checklists on each vehicle. Failure to produce them could result in significant fines and potentially major liability for the accident. From your DROPBOX file, you can print Excel reports in minutes for an OSHA inspector.
KEYCHECK will save you time and reduce costs and keep your equipment in great mechanical order and in safe operating condition. Accountability for performing checklist is much more automatic and easy to oversee by management. Using a smartphone or tablet means your operators or mechanics can perform checklists anywhere in the plant or job site. KEYCHECK makes doing checklist inspections easy ---so it is more likely to get done-----and Your Company stays in OSHA compliance! Best of all---you improve safety for everyone.
