Your kanji journey starts here. Take the first steps in becoming a kanji master.

Based on the Japanese way of teaching children, the app divides the 1006 kyōiku kanji into 6 grades. Once you've chosen a grade, a random kanji character is displayed without its meaning. The app tests and improves your memory by getting you to identify the meaning, before pressing the "Correct meaning" button to see if you got it right. If you need some help identifying the meaning, just press the "Possible meanings" button to show 4 possible meanings.

Ideal for beginners and those who want to see how well they're progressing.

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Choose from grades 1 to 6.

2. Choose whether to show all the kanji in that grade, or a selection.

3. Identify the meaning behind the randomly generated kanji character.

4. If you're unsure, press the "Possible meanings" button to display 4 possible meanings.

5. Press the "Correct meaning" button and see if you're right.

6. Press the "Next kanji" button to generate another random kanji character.

7. To choose another grade, press the "Grade menu" button.
