This app gives you the Bible in both Latin and English, allowing you to read the word of God in one or both languages side by side - perfect for practising your Latin skills!

This Bible brings together St Jerome's Latin vulgate with the Douay-Rheims English translation. This translation was chosen not for any religious reasons (please spare me the angry emails!), but because it most closely matches the vulgate both in letter and in ordering.

You may notice that the chapter and verse numbering of this Bible is different to your modern-day equivalent. For example, Psalm 23 is numbered 22 here. This is exactly how St Jerome presented it, and I have retained his numbering where possible, which means I have included what some Christians refer to as 'the apocrypha' – books such as Tobit and Baruch.

To re-iterate, please do not imagine I am making some sort of religious argument with this work; it is, after all, the largest ecclesiastical Latin work we have available to us, and provides a challenging and interesting read regardless of your religious belief.
