When you have either defeated the assailing creature or have escaped to a safe location, you can turn the wand off by pressing the handle again and saying “Nox!” It is important to speak clearly and position your mouth close to the base of the wand when you speak. This is just how magic works. In addition to Lumos, you can cast a number of other spells such as "Stupefy", "Point Me", and "Accio Owl". You can also get answers to life’s most difficult Yes/No questions by consulting the crystal ball, which responds with answers such as: • I drank too much Butterbeer.
