The Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) can be used to evaluate short term survival in an adult with end-stage liver disease. This score is based on serum creatinine, serum total bilirubin, INR and cause of the cirrhosis (cholestatic, alcoholic, other). It is more accurate than Child Pugh score in the assessment of advanced disease and is often used to stratify candidates for liver transpantation thus being useful for hepatologists and hepato-biliopancreatic surgeons.
This app calculates MELD score and provides the survival rate after 1 day, 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and 2 years.
