Attacks against women seem to be getting worse and worse. But there are things we can do - you can do.

Maria MacCallum's Self-Defence for women is about awareness, being sensible, confidence and knowing some basic moves. These moves are really simple - anyone can do them - but they do require practise. You can practise on anyone but these tactics are effective against someone twice your size. Apart from one situation only (robbery by an armed attacker, see the section on Awareness of Knives), never ever do what an attacker asks you to do - it's not going to end well. Best of all avoid getting into dangerous situations and follow the advice on the app. Be confident, don't freeze, don't do what an attacker or someone threatening you asks you to do - and never, ever stop defending yourself.
