MedEdCases is the first Virtual Patient app of its kind. MedEdCases app is primarily aimed at providing additional learning experiences for medical and healthcare undergraduates. The Virtual Patient scenarios allow you to practice your clinical decision making skills along with testing your knowledge.

The MedEdCases app is based on the Virtual Patient (VP) concept, and has been designed, developed and created by the award winning e-Learning Unit (eLU) at St George’s, University of London and Intelligent Business Optimisation System Solutions Limited (IBOSS).

A virtual patient is defined as, “an interactive computer simulation of real-life clinical scenarios for the purpose of medical training, education, or assessment” (Ellaway et al. 2006).

The MedEdCases app currently delivers a number of interactive Virtual Patients covering a variety of diseases from St George’s, University of London’s collection of VPs.

The MedEdCases app allows you to play VP cases and make patient management decisions independently, as you would when managing a real patient. Some of the cases are designed as self-assessment cases with multiple choice questions and scoring embedded on the choices you make within the cases. When playing the case you will be given feedback upon the choices you have made so you can learn from the choices you make.

Download MedEdCases app and gain access to a library of cases which will be updated over time. The app is easy to use with extensive help guides available if you have trouble with it. Virtual patient cases can be downloaded over the 3G network or Wi-Fi and once downloaded the cases do not require any internet connection to be played.
