Metalcore or metallic core is an extensive fusion genre that is a blend of extreme metal and hardcore punk. Metalcore music puts its emphasis on breakdowns, which are intense, slow passages that are conducive to slamdancing or moshing. Sepultura and Pantera influenced later bands and the additional advancement of metalcore. Subgenres include mathcore, deathcore, and melodic metalcore.
