Meteogram App and Widget provides a detailed and visually appealing weather forecast, allowing you very quickly to understand what to expect when you venture outdoors.

Key Features

The weather chart provides plots for temperature, rainfall, air pressure, and cloud cover, along with summary weather symbols that follow the temperature profile.

Wind information is neatly presented using conventional wind symbols that have been used by forecasters for centuries; this allows for a very clear view of likely wind conditions, encapsulating both speed and direction in a single symbol.

Despite the wealth of information available in a single chart, because of the way in which the information is presented visually, the key features of the weather can be very quickly understood.

What is Included

Installation provides an app and a homescreen widget.

The app

With the app, a meteogram is opened up in full screen, and is interactive. Clicking on any time point will open a pop-up with more detailed information about the weather at that time point.

The widget

With the homescreen widget, you can place a resizable meteogram directly onto your device's homescreen. The meteogram is updated in the background to keep the forecast up to date. This provides a very quick and convenient view of the weather outlook, without even having to find and open an app.

The widget is initially placed as a 4x2 widget, but thereafter can be dragged to any size you like! The widget features resize intelligently to provide a clear representation no matter what size is chosen.

You can even place multiple widgets onto your homescreen, each relating to a different location and each having a different appearance.

Both

For both the app and the widget, you can customise the appearance of the widget by selecting from a number of predefined themes, and you can also choose the number of hours you wish to appear in the meteogram (anything between 1 and 48 hours, though some choices will look better than others).

You can display a meteogram for practically any location on Earth, via a simple lookup feature.

Finally, the entire package is also relatively light-weight, with the installation file itself only being around 175K in size. Therefore, this won't be a big hog of your device's memory!

Versions

Note that there are two versions of this app: a free version (http://goo.gl/oriVID) and a pro version (http://goo.gl/Ym8Flw).

With the free version, certain features are restricted, with the meteogram only displaying in the default theme and for a 24-hour time period. In addition, only the 4x2 widget size is available.

However, even with the free version, all features of the pro version are enabled for the default location, so that you can fully evaluate the app for a good length of time before deciding whether you wish to upgrade.

Weather Data

The weather data is supplied by met.no, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, which is the same data used by yr.no. Note that this app is in no way associated with or endorsed by met.no or the Norwegian Meteorological Institute or yr.no.

Future Plans

As I develop the app I plan to add more functionality, and your feedback or suggestions would be very welcome. For example, definitely on the "to do" list is to add an option to select between Metric and Imperial units, and to add more options to customise the appearance of the charts.
