By giving your name, email address or phone number to physical or online shops, you are basically telling them what Mike or Mary has been buying or browsing. Even with privacy and data protection laws, you cannot prevent others from obtaining the information. Worse, the source of leakage is usually not easily identifiable.

The best way of ensuring privacy is not giving out such information.

In MoMoAL, every user is anonymous. There is no user registration, and no sign-on using any social network that can identify a person (except when the user wishes to advertise). Besides, what advertisements are followed, viewed, clicked or disliked is not divulged to anyone, including the merchants and the MoMoAL server.

Apart from these, MoMoAL receives loyalty reward notifications from MoMoAL for Merchant, telling you exactly what rewards are redeemable, what the next reward is, and how far you are from the next reward.

If yours is an NFC phone, you can use host-card-emulation (HCE) or Android Beam, replacing the need of presenting a loyalty card. With HCE, your customer ID is automatically transmitted to the merchant's phone, when your phone that has its screen turned on but remains locked, is in close proximity to the merchant's phone. If the screen is turned on and MoMoAL running in the foreground, Android Beam will be used.
