There are several Glucose infusion rate (GIR) calculators available in app store but all of them allow you to calculate GIR one drip at a time. Multi-drip GIR calculator is a simple GIR calculator which allows you to enter up to 5 drips with different glucose concentrations. This is especially useful in an ICU settings. You can then change either the rate or glucose concentration of individual drips and see the effect it has on GIR and on total fluids intake.

Instructions:

1. Touch inside “Weight” text box and enter patient’s weight in Kg using the keyboard that pops up.

2. Then sequentially touch the text box and enter dextrose concentration and rate for each drip.

3. Touch anywhere outside the text boxes to resign the keyboard.

4. Click Calculate and GIR and TF will be displayed.

5. You can then go and change any parameters and click “Calculate” again to see the effect of the change on GIR and total fluid intake.
