1) Internet and Location (cellular network or GPS) has to be enabled

2) The phone numbers have to be stored in Google Contacts in International formal eg. +919912345678

3) You can find your friends within 50 meters or 500 meters. You can chose not to share your location with a friend but still be able to fetch the location of your friend if your friend has allowed sharing location when you both are in vicinity.
