It’s part of Neptune’s philosophy to provide our customers with innovations that allow them to maximize the resources they already have in hand. And what many have in their hands much of the time is an Android phone or tablet.

Now utility personnel can pair those devices with Neptune’s R900® Belt Clip Receiver to perform simple tests of R900® radio frequency meter interfaces units (RF MIUs) while in the field.

The Android RF Test App, Neptune’s first app to be available in the Google Play Store, is easy to download and use. Field personnel can see on screen a list of all R900 MIUs in range, as well as the meter readings collected by those MIUs. The app can also report back flag icons for particular accounts, which can be expanded to reveal information on possible leak and reverse flow conditions. Yet another way to use Neptune’s Android RF Test App is to search for a particular MIU within range.

Here’s a Quick Summary on how to use the app:

1) Download from the Google Play Store.

2) Enter your customer number and license key (supplied by Neptune customer support).

3) Go to the Settings screen and pair your device with Neptune’s R900 Belt Clip Receiver to establish Bluetooth connection.

4) Press “START” to begin listening for all R900 RF MIUs in range.

5) With the report on screen, you can narrow your results by typing information into the “filter” box.

6) No need to refresh the reading on screen – it updates in real time.

7) Touch any flag icons that appear to determine the type of flag condition such as leak or reverse flow.

8) Press “CLEAR” to start a new search.
