In octi you don't just move the pieces: you create them!

Players start in a 9x9 board with 7 pieces called 'pods' and 25 'prongs' which can be inserted into the pods during the game.

Board have 6 squares of a different color (3 for each player). These are the Octi squares (also called bases)

Game starts with 3 Pods on the board, one of each in own Octi square.

So there is a reserve of 4 Pods and 25 Prongs for each player.

The winner is the first player that occupy an enemy octy square. In each turn a player can:

1. Add a prong into a pod on the board

2. Move a pod into direction of its prongs to an adiacent square that not contains enemy pods

3. Jump with a pod over another pod (friend or enemy) in the direction of its prong. You can decide to capture or not the jumped pod. Multiple jumps are allowed!

4. Add a pod on the own base from the reserve

In every turn players must decide between a 3-way trade off: quantity, quality and initiative. Learning the rules of Octi takes very little time, but to play well one must learn to manage resources.

Initially your pieces are incapable of moving. To enable them to move, you insert a Prong in one of 8 faces of the Pod. When a Pod have at least one Prong, it may move one square in the direction of its Prongs. A piece with prongs may jumps over both friend and enemy pieces, capturing them if desired. When you capture a piece, you receive the captured Prongs that can be used. Captured Pods cannot be used.

Multiple jumps are allowed, so long as the same square is not jumped more that once per turn. Jumping and capturing are not mandatory. Every number of friendly pieces may occupy the same square in a stack. In a turn each Pod of a stack can moves in the direction of its prongs, and can jump over others Pods. So the pieces of a stack can move simultaneously!

In a turn you may decide to add a Pod on the board from your reserve. You can add a Pod in one of your three bases.
