OneSync is an automatic background app which keeps a folder in your phone and another folder in your OneDrive in sync with each other. New files in your phone (or tablet) are automatically uploaded to OneDrive. New files in OneDrive are automatically downloaded. If you delete a file on one side, it will be deleted on the other side too. It even works across multiple devices (phone + tablet). If their folders are synced with the same OneDrive account, they will be kept in sync with each other.

This is how Microsoft OneDrive works on desktop but it's not the same with the official OneDrive Android app. The OneDrive app is all manual. The only automatic task it does is uploading new photos for backup. If you don't like a photo and delete it, you have to do so twice. Once in OneDrive, the second time in the phone.
