OtoSense is a new way for you to interact with and react to the significant sounds you want to be aware and can't hear. You can teach OtoSense to learn the sound of your doorbell, smoke and fire alarms, telephone ringing, among other audio alerts and sounds with time-sensitive information. OtoSense learns these sounds, and notifies you with flash and vibration and can send an SMS text and push notification.

The story of how OtoSense came about is important because our vision/mission to help people to live more autonomous lives remains true today. We set out to help a friend, who is deaf, find a portable, easy and inexpensive way to be aware of smoke and fire alarm sounds while staying in hotels. After developing that provisional application, we continued to work on the technology, realizing that modern life is full of sounds.

Otosense is a next generation acoustic recognition engine that is able to describe environmental sounds and infer what are their sources, and we're really excited to deliver it, as first imagined, to smartphones.

OtoSense answers the question - What is that sound?

OtoSense mobile app turns your smartphone into a portable, affordable and adaptable assistive alerting device.

Key features include:

- Sound Identification does not require a network connection, once OtoSense knows a sound.

- Several devices logged onto the same OtoSense account will alert each other via the cloud of the recorded sounds it hears (watch OtoSense Mobile App in Action to see this feature).

- listens in the background for the sounds you recorded, ready to alert you even while you do other things on your smartphone.

We're working on the iOS platform now for iPhone and iPad and expect to finish in late October.

Please Note:

OtoSense requires REAL-TIME AUDIO PROCESSING and that functionality requires power. So turn on the app when you need it, and turn it off when you don't.
