The game of Paper-Scissors-Rock is universal, known across cultures. Now you can play across the internet against opponents from around world.

Use your intuition to guess your opponent's move and choose your move carefully. Your opponent will try to second-guess your move, so you should third-guess your opponent!

Each game has 5 moves. After 5 moves, the player who has won more moves than the other is the winner.

Signing-in and registering

You can sign-in and start a game simply by choosing a suitable nickname, and pressing the [Sign-in or register] button. The nickname you choose will be reserved, so it is available only from your device - nobody else can use it. If you want to place bets on a game, you should also supply your e-mail address and choose a password. Remember your password!

Betting

To add extra excitement to your games, you can bet tokens against your opponents. First, top-up your account with tokens, and then choose how many tokens you want to bet when you sign-in.

If an opponent is available who has also chosen to make a bet, the bet will be confirmed when you sign-in and make your first move. The bet value will be the lower of the token amounts chosen by you or your opponent.

If you win the game, you win the bet and take the tokens. If you lose, your opponent takes the tokens. If the game ends in a draw, neither player wins the tokens.

Messages

You can send messages to your opponent during each game. You may use messages to confuse your opponents and lead them astray... Send "Rock!" then play Scissors (very sneaky), or send "Paper!" and play Paper. Oooh, double sneaky! You can write your own messages too. Please be polite and friendly - insults and abuse are not allowed. Remember not to send any personal details unless you mean to.

Claiming a game by time-out

If your opponent does not respond for more than a couple of minutes, you will be presented with an opportunity to:

1. claim the game and win (or lose) any bet, or

2. wait for a while longer to give your opponent a chance to reconnect and continue the game, or

3. abandon the game. Bets will be cancelled and you and your opponent will both keep your tokens.

Conversely, if you do not respond for a couple of minutes, your opponent can claim or abandon the game.

Opponents

You can choose to play a "robot" opponent, just a computer program in the central web service, which may be useful if you sign in at a time when no human opponents are available. It is much more satisfying to fun beat real human opponents, especially if you have made a bet and take their tokens! So, send a message inviting your friends to play you. Go on - wake them up!

Technical details

In traditional face-to-face games of Paper-Scissors-Rock, the players make their moves simultaneously. To ensure fair game play, even when moves sent remotely cannot be exactly simultaneous, your move and your opponent's move are sent to a central web service, not directly to each other's mobile devices. Only when both moves are received by the web service does the service send the result to the players' devices. Like this, there is no opportunity for a player to cheat by knowing your move before making his or her own move, so you can be sure that every game you play is fair.
