The Pennsylvania Elk Tour is a self-guided driving tour of northcentral Pennsylvania's elk country. It highlights five locations for viewing elk and learning about the history and restoration of Pennsylvania’s elk population.

To accommodate spotty cellular service typical of this region of the state, the Pennsylvania Elk Tour automatically installs a GPS enabled roadmap of elk country on your mobile device. As a result, it is a fairly large download and may take several minutes. The app tracks your current location on the map and follows your progress through the region.

The offline roadmap displays each elk tour destination. Each stop includes a details page with photos and descriptions of the area that can be accessed directly from the map or via the destination list.

For devices without GPS receivers, the app can still be used as a field guide and roadmap of the area even when there is no internet service available.
