PocketPipes plays Great Highland Bagpipe tunes with (or without) drones and embellishments. You can pause and restart the tune, change the tempo, play in loop mode ... Ability to choose between practice chanter sound or bagpipe sound. A synced metronome is avalaible when playing the air. A startup sequence with beats and two-beats E can be launched just before the tune.The tunes are either in abc or bww format which are two common standards. For a quick start, packs of tunes are available on the support URL.abc files can be in scottish (K:HP) or breton( K:Eb ) notation.The software displays the scores in full screen with zooming and sliding capability. The score is a pdf file. PocketPipes creates it at the first request for viewing. The display works in portrait or landscape orientation, with zoom capability. The sheet music can span multiple pages.User can choose between scottish or breton musical notation.PocketPipes contains 6 pairs of tunes/pdf files for demonstration purpose. Your own files will be loaded into the iPhone or iPad from a Dropbox account or from a desktop using iTunes file sharing. Guides are available on the support URL. The user has the ability to categorize the tunes because it is uneasy to work with a large number of tunes simply sorted in alphabetic order. The categories permit to work on subsets: i.e. Next Show, To learn, Marches .... The user defines its own categories with the app settings.The preferred source to produce abc files is the free software Bagpipe (link provided on the support website for PocketPipes, and inside the app). PocketPipes can read files coming from different sources. Just be careful with the tunes you get on the net, the metronome is a good way to verify them.PocketPipes also offers a 9-keys keypad to "tap" the air, without embellishments. The learning feature helps to play the notes of the selected air indicating the next note to play. This keyboard has a role of entertainment and in no way resembles the practice of the real instrument.
