The App of the Austrian Mint was especially developed for the new Mint Series „Prehistoric Life“. A version optimezed for tablets and phones with high screen resolution can be found here: http://muenze1.7host.at

The „Prehistoric Life“ series focuses on the motives oft he prehistoric times of Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous, Tertiary and Quarternary. Fossils, animals and living environments of the particular time are shown on each coin. The coins’ animals are the highlights of the app. The animal’s 3D models are replicated realistically. The user can explore them, get to know them and last but not least play with them. After touching the animal it roars. Additionally, the user can switch to skeleton mode. The educational background is another important aspect: the app offers detailed information about the animal, its living environment as well as the period. Moreover you find information about the archeological site and the geology.

The app starts with the first dinosaur „Nothosaur“. The other prehistorical animals will follow with each coin release. The user unlocks the new time via updating the app.

Motivs in the serie’s documents (e.g. certificate, brochure, mini-booklets, print-ad) will trigger the app. One will also be available online on http://www.muenzeoesterreich.at/urzeit. To connect directly to the archeologial site, the app features geotagging: each part of the app is deposited with the coordinates of the former habitat. E.g: the Nothosaur lived in the Dachstein region. If the user is there and activates the app, he can explore the animal in the surrounding there.

The "Prehistoric Life App" of Austrian Mint AG software - (c) 2013: 4D-IT GmbH, Austria - uses the Vuforia SDK. This implies, that certain types of anonymous usage data is collected by the Vuforia SDK and sent back to servers at QUALCOMM Austria and its affiliates and service providers. The user agrees to:

(i) the collection and use by QUALCOMM Austria and its affiliates and service providers, of Statistics from the Software; and

(ii) the transfer of Statistics between QUALCOMM Austria and its affiliates and service providers in the United States to (i) facilitate the provision of new products, updates, enhancements and other services, (ii) to improve the Software and our products, services and technologies, and (iii) to provide new products, services or technologies to You and customers of QUALCOMM Austria and its affiliates.
