What is Q Sense?

Q Sense is a smartphone app being developed by researchers at the University of Cambridge for people who want to quit smoking. It works by learning about your high-risk locations and situations before you quit, so that it can send situation-specific personalised support once you begin your quit attempt.

How does Q Sense work?

The app will invite you to log each time you smoke until your chosen quit date (ideally about two weeks after installing the app). It will ask five brief questions about your mood and situation and will use location sensors to establish your location. This information will enable the app to build a profile of your smoking behaviour, so it can send you personalised support messages once your quit date has arrived.

What about my data?

Any personal information collected about you during the study will be kept strictly confidential, and all electronic data will be stored on a secure server at the University of Cambridge.
