Quantum of Spin Bird 's Compass App

European Robins use Earth's magnetic field as an aid for navigation on their migratory journey.

This app demonstrates the visual image which Robins may perceive: a magnetic field dependent overlay allows the bird to figure out its heading, but note that Robins cannot directly tell North from South (without also knowing the field inclination). The bird could learn how the patterns on it's vision corrispond to compass bearings.
